Bio-hydrox can combine with Hypochlorite to help it work better while reducing DBPs. They have great affinity because Bio-hydrox is a chlorine product itself, however with a radically different molecular arrangement , a “Mineral Oxychloride Solution”, a combination of transition mineral chelates with chlorite ion as ligands forming oxygen bonds that break easily when energized by the mineral catalysts and causing the oxygen metabolites to spin-off, thus initiating a radical chain reaction.
Why is Bio-hydrox a chlorine compound? By definition, any compound that can produce hypochlorite ions, OCl-, is an active chlorine compound. This needs further clarification. We are a passive chlorine compound. Bio-hydrox oxidative power is mainly supported by hydroxyl radicals. When the water system reaches a level of saturation, the extra energy of the redox reactions causes chlorite ions to form oxygen bonds of its own and generate chlorine residual as OCl, not a good germicidal and not a good oxidant, and also not the acidifying HOCl. Bio-hydrox does not lower the pH of the water. Got it?
