A NEW OPTION TO ENHANCE THE ADSORPTION OF ACTIVATED CARBON

Biological enhancement will complicate the process particularly with increasing biofouling in the membrane systems. Bio-hydrox is a better plan “B” than BBBBugs!!! With Bio-hydrox as pre-oxidant you can implement an efficient ORP monitoring program that will improve performance of the carbon beds and optimize membrane filtration while reducing the amount of cleaning cycles. A very small amount can reach an ORP of 700 mV which is incompatible with the life sustaining mechanisms of microscopic organisms and will mineralize most organic compounds and form simple salts. GAC will easily reduce the oxidation activity within the first few seconds. An ORP of 300 mV is safe for most membrane systems.

ANTIMICROBIAL ICE

Bio-hydrox is a solution of mineral oxychlorides and can be used as an alternate to chlorinated and other chemicals for water disinfection. It reacts with water molecules and releases reactive Oxygen species similar to what happens when Ozone is bubbled thru water. It acts very quickly and will destroy all pathogens within a few seconds.

The antimicrobial activity can be measured with an ORP monitor.

The powerful antimicrobial property is in part due to its oxidation-reduction potential (2.8 V – 2.9 V). This is higher than that of Ozone (2.07 V), Chlorine Dioxide (1.57 V) and Sodium Hypochlorite (1.36 V).

The mineral ions in Bio-hydrox act as catalysts to achieve ozonation, high yield production of hydroxyl radicals and deliver more residual activity than chlorination. The chemical reactions originated and perpetuated by the metal catalysts in solution are the basics for its advanced oxidation technology.

Bio-hydrox is advanced oxidation technology. It will provide lasting protection against spoilage and increase shelf life.

Bio-hydrox can oxidize organic and inorganic compounds, pesticides and emerging contaminants present on the wet skin and surface of poultry, meat, fish, seafood and produce.

Most compounds will be oxidized upon contact and will be degraded and mineralized turning into carbon dioxide, water, and other harmless fragments. Bio-hydrox can break down the molecular bonds of antibiotics, pesticides and other harmful chemicals, and convert them into non-toxic substances.

Water treated with Bio-hydrox is suitable to drink and for all ice applications. The product is used in very small concentrations and is not detectable when tasting the ice. It will not affect the flavor of food and beverages.

VEGGIES STAY FRESH LONGER

Higher level of dissolved oxygen for healthier cilantro sprigs



A fresh cut bunch of cilantro divided in half. On the left the cup has water treated with Bio-hydrox. On the right, the cup has regular tap water. The pictures were taken on day 1, day 2, and day 3.

Blueberries rinsed with treated water last longer


One batch of fresh blueberries was divided in half. The control (left) was rinsed with tap water and the other half (test samples on right) was rinsed with a 700 mV solution of water treated with Bio-hydrox. Both groups were stored in separate ziplock bags that were sealed and stored on a shelf under indirect light for 6 days. It is evident the control group (left) shows significantly more mold growth than the treated blueberries (right).

Better looking broccoli even when refrigerated


A head of broccoli was divided in half. The florettes on the left were rinsed with tap water and the ones on the right were rinsed with tap water treated with Bio-hydrox to 700 mV. They were bagged separate and kept in the refrigerator a 50°F for 15 days. At the end of the experiment the control florettes were considered a reject, while the test florettes looked good enough to be served in a salad or in a cooked meal. The texture was similar to that of a fresh cut.
